Beauty

Beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
But you are eternity and you are the mirror.

Compost Woes

It's absolutely amazing how compost can make a garden look so wonderful.  I love the stuff and can't get enough.  It is also amazing how much material you can throw onto your compost pile and how small it becomes as it breaks down into soil.
My garden has grown and grown and it will get bigger.  The problem is my compost pile can't accommodate my garden at the size it is now.  Spring mulching has depleted it entirely and I only covered about a quater of the garden.  The garden loves the stuff, it eats it up like a well prepared feast and the worms that travel the soil love it too.  I NEED MORE!
What to do, what to do?  I have been eyeing the leaf piles in other peoples yards that were left out for the city to collect.  Hmmmmmm, that's good stuff and it's worth it's wait in gold as far as I'm concerned.  Me, a leaf scavenger?
I'll take what I can get and hunt for more.  You want somewhere to dump your yard waste?  I'll take it!  I'll take your kitchen scraps too,  provided they are veggie scraps.  I'll take it all!  Bring it on over and I'll gladly trade it for fresh veggies or herbs.
As for all my neighbors who leave their yard waste on the street to be collected . . .   Don't be surprised if you see me carrying it off.   : )

Inflection

The tone of your voice will give you away every time.
The language of your body tells on you.
Disguise dislike and hatred with kind words and inflection gives away how you really feel.
Disguise love and affection with aloof indifference and the flip of your hair and the long stare will tell the story.
Lie to me but please know I see.
I see what's not being said.

Suddenly I see it in my own words and actions.
Living with honesty is the key.
Say it if it's true.  If it's not, nod and keep quiet.
Reveal truth in your actions and words.
Let them be a reflection of your thoughts.

Practice right thinking and positive thoughts and your tone and body
will never have to tell the truth for you.
Alignment of body and mind and let spirit guide you.
I see, this is who I want to be.
The peace I want to see in this world
Begins inside of me.

Finding Worth

I've been thinking some pretty deep thoughts lately.  Well, I take that back, I think deep thoughts a lot.  Today's deep thought is do people's opinions, thoughts, experiences have worth if they are apposed to the opinions, thoughts, experience of my own?  Do I see people as unworthy of their thoughts?  Do I see opinions that are not based on fact as unworthy of being heard?  What exactly are opinions?  Do my opinions have worth?  Do the opinions of others that do not fit the facts of my own experience have worth?

Someone said something very interesting today and it went something like this.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if it is not based on fact it has no worth.  This really made me think.  How do I feel about the opinions of others that I don't agree with?  My husband loves snow, I don't.  I give his opinion of snow worth despite the fact that I really don't care for the stuff.  This opinion really isn't based on any facts other than the fact that snow makes him happy.  So, I suppose it is based on fact, just not my fact.  My facts don't match his facts, but both opinions have worth.

The same could be said of God.  My experience are my facts.  My experience of God is a loving one, a universal one.  I pray to God and in my experience, God is everywhere, in every religion.  He does not discriminate.  He is not an elitest and does not belong to one religion over another.  This is my opinion and is based on the facts of my own experience of who He/She is.  My facts do not match the facts of others who have a different experience of who God is.  So, does my opinion have worth?  Does my vision of God have less worth because it is not based on the "facts" of what the Bible says?  Does my relationship with God have less worth?  Am I not entitled to the blessings of God because I have a different view?

I find this interesting.  I can't answer this question on my own.  In my opinion I am very much entitled to relationship with God based on the "facts" of my own experience.  My opinion has worth wether based on your facts or not.  Fortunate for me I have a very strong understanding and relationship with God and unfortunate for others who can't see what I see, it is not based on what the Bible says.  This is not to say that I don't find worth in the Bible.  I keep a Bible next to me always.  I also keep The Dhamamdpada next me and I also keep the Tao Te Ching next to me.  I find worth in everyone's opinion.

Opinion is just what it is.  It is based always on fact.  Those facts may not match the facts of your life and even so, it is still of value.  The facts of my experience with ice cream has lead me to believe that it is delicious!  I know some who find ice cream to be undesirable, as strange as this may seem to me, I value her opinion.  Her opinion is valid and has worth because this is a fact in her life.  She just doesn't like ice cream.  This fact is not a fact for me.  My fact is not a fact for her.  We are both right.

Boy, I Know You

Don't think I don't know you, I know who you are
I left you three lives behind
Stop creeping around in my mind
Our love ended in a time long ago and far

Boy, I know you
I've known you longer than the stars
You keep knocking on the door to my heart
but can't you see the man that sets you apart.

This man now resides in my heart
and the boy has left nothing but a scar
Stop thinking you have a piece of me
My love for him has set you free.

Boy, stop coming to me in my dreams
grow up and let me sew the seam
You've torn a whole that I must now repair
Stop this nonsense and give me some air.

My past life with you was grand
you settled in quite well and love me you did
In this life it's just not the plan
I am forever his now and you lost your right to bid.

I will say this only once and then forever be gone
The spot beside me is filled and it is he whom I hold
The back door to my mind is now closed
Go back to that time of old. . .

Love IS All You Need

All you need is love ~ The Beatles

There's nothing you can do that can't be done
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy

There's nothing you can make that can't be made
No one you can save that can't be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time
It's easy

All you need is LOVE

Love is ALL you need.

There's nothing you can know that can't be known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
No where you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
It's easy

All you need is LOVE

Love is all YOU need.

All About Nothing

Sometimes nothing speaks louder than something.

Today I am going to bask myself in nothing.  That's right, I'm going to appreciate nothing.  I am going to appreciate the space between things.  Silence and empty spaces.  The beauty of the nothing that surrounds a thing.

Yes people I'm still on my meds and perhaps it is that, helping me see more clearly my position in the cosmos.   I see perfectly all the things in my life and I am beginning to see beauty in the space between.
The air and the force holding all the stuff together.

Sit and look at nothing long enough and you'll see that's it's active.  It moves.  Bugs fly threw it.  Dust floats though it.  Sun shines on it.  It's formless yet takes the shape of the thing it surrounds or fills up.  Paradoxical thing.
I'm looking also at the space between sound and action.  Beautiful pauses and stops.  Sitting, doing nothing.
It's a beautiful thing.
If I only could get my kids to observe nothing and sit in silence to fully appreciate it's vastness, I think I would have reached Heaven.

The Beauty of Nothing.

Deep Thoughts

Yawn, I wake up and make myself a pot of coffee.  I gather together my morning supplies which include my coffee, of course, my laptop and my latest novel I've been savoring.  I check daily my e-mail and facebook to see what's happening in the world and the very first thing I see is a bible verse, I'll just keep it to myself.  Essentially, I am being told that I'm going to hell and when I do no one in my family will be able to save me.

Well, it literally wasn't for me but it was posted for everyone to see so, yeah, I guess it could apply to me.  Anger rose in me but subsided quickly and the rest of my day was spent pondering this thing called hell and the qualifications of being a member.

Now, I am a deeply spiritual person and I have a very deep and personal relationship with God.  I am often confronted with judgment over how I choose to live and raise my children and I have written on the subject before but I've become more tender and accepting of how I'm viewed.  Let's just say it rolls off my back more easily now.
I wouldn't say that I'm Christian; though, I'm not entirely opposed to the whole idea.  I lean more towards a Buddhist kind of thought; though, I'm not Buddhist.  My home is a mixture of Christian and Buddhist ideas and I sprinkle a bit of Taoism in there too.

Anyway, this is how I feel in a nutshell and yeah, this is a reaction to that damning post I read and don't agree with at all.

When you know the true being of another,
You can judge -

And if you truly know the Tao
you will be in the light.

It takes force to control people:
but if I am humble,  I can never be overcome.

If you know what you have is enough
you will be satisfied.

But if you think you don't have enough
then you will never have enough!

If you follow the Tao, what you are will last.

You will live, and live, and outlive yourself again.

~Tao Te Ching

The word Tao cannot be defined, it is everything and it is nothing.  It can mean the Way or the Path.  Here I'd like to think that it means Spiritual Path.  There are many Paths to spirit, every culture and religion has their own idea of it.
I grew up in the Christian tradition and have a great love for the religion; however, I also see that no one religion has all the answers. It would be ignorant to think that only one religion will lead you to Spirit. I am blessed to see the truth in all religions.  Religion is the story of humanity and it belongs to everyone and it is all right.

Wishing I could go for a nice, long walk in the woods but it's raining.

If you meditate earnestly, pure in mind and kind in deeds, leading a disciplined life in harmony with the dharma, you will grow in glory. If you meditate earnestly, through spiritual disciplines you make an island for yourself that no flood can overwhelm.
~ The Dhammapada

I just love this little book! It's nice to open up and sit with on rainy days.

Trying to find a routine with meditation and yoga practice can sometimes be difficult.
I made the decision about a week ago to get up at 6 to practice yoga before the kids got up. My son decided he too was gonna get up but instead of 6 he thought 4:50 was a better time. Oh well. The easiest way to get time to clear my mind these days is on walks.
I need it bad today and it's raining. I am considering a walk in the rain. . .
